Shesha Marvin

Dancing was Shesha’s greatest fear. He would hide in the corner at parties in high school. He had no idea that music had beats. Therefore it’s ironic that today he is a full time swing dancer and teacher. Shesha found a passion for dancing in 1996 at the age of 18 when he conquered his fear of dancing by being dragged out onto the dance floor. At first it was role playing as a swing kid. but once he figured out what a triple step was and how to lead a double turn he delved full force into lindy hopping. During the early years of his dancing he danced 6 nights a week in Orange County, CA at Disneyland, local clubs, and on the streets with the riff raff. He would practice with his friends and study moves from swing camp videos. He was an avid follower of original lindy hopper Frankie Manning and Swedish contemporary David Dalmo. He also started training with the dance troupe Hot, Stomp, and Rhythm lead by Audrey Wilson. This lead to Shesha helping Audrey with her popular swing dance classes at first as “Little Assistant Boy”, and later as a proper traveling partnership.
Shesha’s father’s favorite saying is, “Follow your bliss.” When Shesha fell in love with dancing he knew he would make a life of it. He started his 1st classes at Memories dance club in Orange County, CA in 1999. At that time Memories was the mecca of swing dancing in OC. In 2001, the club closed and moved to LA and Shesha was the only person poised and ready to continue the swing scene in OC. Shesha went on to make OC one of the most jammin’ swing dance scenes in the world by offering a multitude of dance venues and by teaching or hosting quality classes.
In 2003 Shesha met his now wife Nikki Marvin. She was very interested in competing at lindy hop and she drew him into that part of his career. Together and with other partners, they began to travel around the US competing and performing. Shesha was a finalist in many competitions and is the 2009 US Open Champion. They’ve also organized many successful weekend dance events including the 24 Hour Cancer Dance-a-thon, Inspiration Weekend, OC Lindy Exchanges, Balboa Bash, and Jitterbug Jubilee.
Shesha and Nikki performed LIVE on Dancing with the Stars in 2007 and was a featured actor and dancer in Katy Perry Music Video “Thinking of You” in 2008. He has also been interviewed several times for local news shows including Good Day LA.
In addition to dancing Shesha has jumped from hobby to hobby such as hat tricks, tap dancing, card magic, footbag, and surfing. His current hobby is “playing” business as the owner of ATOMIC Ballroom in Irvine, CA, easily the most popular social dance venue in California.
